About the artist (KYLIE)

I am a cisgender white woman who identifies as asexual. I see bodies as objects that can be mundane, grotesque, and beautiful simultaneously. This includes genitals, which have been revered and hidden away in equal measures throughout human history.

My day job is as an environmental microbiologist in coastal Southern California (Tonga-Gabrielleno land). I am pro-science, inclusive, and continually aim to be a better ally every day.

About the art (EMBROIDERY)

Embroidery, and fiber art in general, has always been “women’s work" and often undervalued as “real art.” I love embroidery as a medium for its physicality that is often lacking in “real art".” My embroidery can be broadly categorized into two main sections: raising human bodies and genitals on to the pedestal of art, and something I thought was funny so I created it.

Unless otherwise noted, all pieces depicting human bodies can be viewed as whatever gender you (the viewer) want. If you see yourself in my art, then I consider my goal accomplished.

Disclaimer for all KYLIEEMBROIDERY art: I do not give permission for any trans-exclusionary (e.g. TERFs, LGB, etc.) and/or discriminatory (e.g. nazis, kkk, etc.) groups to use my art in any likeness.
